QBE Acronym for Query By Example. Used in databases, it is a simple technique for novice users to interrogate the data in the database and return the results in the form of a query (or list).
QIC Acronym for Quater-Inch Cartridge.  It is a standard format for backup tapes.
Queue A collection of documents or files waiting to be printed or processed by the system, usually work on a First In, First Out (FIFO) basis.
QWERTY Name given a keyboard where the first 6 letters on the first character row are Q, W, E, R, T and Y respectively. Most keyboards in use today are QWERTY keyboards. This keyboard layout was invented Circa 1867 by Sholes and Co, a typewriter manufacturer, to slow typists down to overcome mechanical problems with typewriter hammers jamming on each other.  The format has persisted through to the modern day computer.
